Getting started with Framework7

Working with Framework7, Installation and initial setup of Framework7 is very simple and easy when you start with its predefined examples placed in Kitchen Sink but at programmers.com, we will learn everything about Framework7 more broadly. Before moving on ‘How to start with Framework7?’ if you don’t know about Framework7 then I recommend please walk once through our previous post ‘What is Framework7?’.

To understand whole process of Framework7 with practical examples I also recommend creating a localhost on your pc either with IIS (Internet Information Service) or Apache server or Node.JS because Framework7 routing system will not gonna work without http localhost. You can also go with other available http web server options like Nginx, WAMP, LAMP (only for linux), LightSpeed etc but below explained options are much more easy and in use these days.

What is IIS?

IIS (Internet Information Service) is default http web server system of Window OS which can be installed easily on your pc by enabling the IIS feature under Turn windows feature on or off section. If you working with IIS then you don’t need to install any third party software on your pc.

What is Apache?

Apache is an open-source and free web server software. The official name is Apache HTTP Server, and it's maintained and developed by the Apache Software Foundation. It allows website owners to serve content on the web. You can create your own Apache web server on pc by installing XAMPP. XAMPP is very easy to download, install, configure and run localhost http web server on your pc.

What is Node.JS?

Node.js is an open source http web server and JavaScript runtime environment that built on Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine. Node.js runs on various platforms (Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac OS X, etc.) and the ability to run Node.JS on various platforms make it so special and very popular in a very short period of its launch.

Now let’s go ahead, in this Framework7 tutorial series we will create a web application (website) with different modules of Framework7 and to create that, first of all we have to create Homepage for our web application.

Create Homepage using Framework7

Now first of all we have to create a folder inside web server root directory (which is ‘htdocs’ in XAMPP), you can specify any name but in this Framework Tutorial I’ll name it ‘myapp’ like shown in below image.

Note : In this Framework7 Tutorial we will create web application using core library.
